When my client first reached out, she had a clear vision: a warm, inviting, and effortlessly elegant living room inspired by the timeless style seen in Nancy Meyers films. Think light, airy spaces, soft neutrals, and a perfect balance of comfort and sophistication. I was thrilled to help bring this dream to life!
Before: Setting the Stage
The original living room had good bones, but it needed some thoughtful changes to truly reflect my client’s vision. The TV was mounted above the fireplace, drawing attention away from the beautiful architectural details of the mantel and windows. The layout felt a bit off-balance, and the space wasn’t being used to its full potential.
As we discussed her hopes for the space, something wonderful came up — her oldest daughter had recently started learning piano and had developed a real passion for it. This gave me an opportunity to design a room that wasn’t just beautiful but also meaningful and functional.
The Design Process: Building the Vision
After my initial visit and interview, I created a mood board to capture the look and feel we were aiming for. This helped us make sure we were on the same page before moving forward. Once the mood board and room layout were approved, I began sending my client room visualizations, allowing her to clearly envision the final transformation and feel confident in each decision we made.
The Layout: Shifting the Focus
The first step was to rethink the layout. I wanted to create a focal point that emphasized the gorgeous fireplace and let natural light shine through the windows. We decided to remove the TV from above the mantel and replace it with a large, elegant mirror that would reflect light and enhance the airy feel of the room.
We created a balanced and inviting seating arrangement, making the fireplace the heart of the space. I incorporated a console table for added storage and style, and of course, we found the perfect spot for the family’s piano — a touch that made the room even more personal and loved.
The Transformation: Bringing It All Together
With the layout in place, it was time to layer in the details. We chose soft, neutral seating with comfortable textures, added warm wood tones through the console and piano, and brought in decor that felt collected and thoughtful. Every piece was chosen to add character without overwhelming the space.
We finished the look with light, airy curtains, cozy throw pillows, simple yet elegant accessories, and best of all- a piano. The final result was a room that felt balanced, serene, and welcoming — exactly what my client had envisioned.

My client was thrilled with the transformation. The living room is now a space where the family gathers, where music fills the air, and where the beauty of the home shines through. This project was such a joy, and I’m so grateful to have helped create a space that reflects both style and heart.
